In September 2009, RECREATURA_arts&culture organized a series of events under the motto Making waves across the Mediterranean. Our objective with this project was to foster a culture of co-existence and peace between the countries in the Mediterranean.

On Saturday, 5 September 2009 we organised a Photomarathon on the Mediterranean combined with a public breakfast. The event took place in front of the MuVIM (Museu Valencià de la Illustració i de la Modernitat) starting with a public breakfast. The 65 participants had 6 hours to take the pictures corresponding to the topic “Moments of Peace - for an intercultural co-existence”. In parallel, a Peace Fair was held in cooperation with such renowned NGOs as Intermon Oxfam, Amnesty International and Entreiguales Valencia.

A jury made up of various Photography and Mediterranean experts have selected the winners. The best photographersr received attractive prizes such as cameras, framed photos or a dinner in Valencia.

The 21 best photos had been shown during one week in the Institut Français in Valencia and the opportunity had been given to select an “Audience Award”. All the final winners were eventually announced during a closing ceremony in the evening of September 21st, International Peace Day.

This blog has been exclusively created for the participation in the 2nd onlien arts festival initiatied by EMYAN. The content shown is fruit of the project Making waves across the Mediterranean organised by RECREATURA_arts&culture in September 2009 in collaboration with
